How do I set up my numbers?
Choose a new phone number, or bring your current one with you to Cradle
Each number in your account must go to a Rule. If you haven't created a Rule yet, see our article on creating Rules.
Get a number
Open Numbers from the left-hand menu.
Click New Number +.
Choose the country and the number type (Local, Toll-free, and so on). The page tells you which compliance bundle covers that type (for example, "Your compliance bundle covers Local numbers").
- If you want a number from a country that is not listed, get in touch with our support team.
Enter an area code if you want to narrow the search, then click Search. For example, to search for a New Zealand number in Auckland, enter 09.
Select a number from the results.
Choose an existing Rule for when people call this number or create a new Rule. If you create a new rule you'll need to configure it in Rule settings later.
Click Get This Number to secure it. The number will show up on your Numbers page with the Rule that you either selected or created.
Port existing number
If you already have a New Zealand, Australian, US, Canada or UK landline or toll-free number you want to keep and use with Cradle, no problem. Porting typically takes about 2 weeks; it can be as quick as 3 business days or as long as 6 weeks, depending on your current provider. See our article on porting for the steps. You can get a Cradle number while you wait, and divert or forward your calls to Cradle straight away.
